Announces the Upcoming Introductory Workshop
in Dance/Movement Therapy
 
This workshop is intended for individuals who would like an introduction to
the basic concepts dance/movement therapy.  Students, dancers, therapists,
and those interested in the transformative elements of creative movement
experience are welcome. No prior movement experience is necessary.
 
Course Description:  This day long workshop will introduce participants to
dance/movement therapy as a creative arts therapy modality.  The history of
the field will be discussed along with the major tenets of mind/body
integration, nonverbal communication and emotional expressive movement.  The
process of finding personal meaning in thoughtful embodied experience will
be explored through movement experientials, lecture presentations and
educational films.
 
Course Goals:  1)  Participants will be presented with a general overview of
the field.  2)  Participants will engage in movement experiences that
highlight basic dance/movement therapy concepts.  3)  Participants will
learn how emotional experiences impact body functioning.  4)  Participants
will increase awareness of their nonverbal expressive style.
