Hi Donna and everyone!

You're wondering where I am since I can't run for a second term as Western Member-At-Large because I'm no longer in the West? I have re-located from Seattle, WA to Pittsburgh, PA to be near my brother's family and my nephew & niece who, at 6 and 3, have gotten way too cute to be so far away from. As it turns out, I have a great new job at Western Psychiatric Institute at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center! After working solo for many years, I'm thrilled to be part of the Creative & Expressive Arts Therapies Dept. there. I'll also get to expand into working with populations new to me. Starts in January. Then I found a small house with a nice yard in a convenient location with friendly neighbors and will do the move-in this weekend. New job starts in January.

So it's on to lots of newness in my life which will be refreshing and energizing. I'm looking forward to exploring the drumming and dance scenes in Pittsburgh, making new friends and getting settled. It's been wonderful to spend the in-between time of the past few weeks with my brother's family and it'll be great to be able to visit them with just a few hours trip by car instead of a cross-country air flight.

It was tough to leave Seattle. After 16 years there I had very close friendships, shared important hobbies and enjoyed diverse social circles in my life. It was a hard decision to make!

I did feel incredibly held and cared for by the dance therapy community as I prepared for the relocation. The job opportunity developed at the conference in Long Beach and I never felt alone about looking for work as a dance therapist. Our ADTA is a great resource!

By the way, Donna, during my day of visiting CATx sessions when I interviewed at UPMC, your stretchy spider prop was proudly shown off to me! Hope your sales trends are upwards and that your business is going well.

Best of the holidays to everyone,
Christine Hopkins
