Hello Everyone,
Yes I would be thrilled w/ any type of music resource/recommendations made available (for members only of course). I agree, I think organizing by population served would be easier.
I have started my own music library and began organizing it by playlists, and it is a very time consuming process. Any recommendations would be great! Sometimes, when searching various music websites it's easy to gravitate towards what you already know. If you get a new recommendation to explore, it can sometimes open up a whole new genre that you weren't even aware of.
Sound bites on the website would be a bonus, but I don't think they're essential (it will also make the project much more expensive, and complex because the music would have to be purchased & stored, legal considerations etc).
For simple starters, I think providing the Title of the song, the Composer/Singer, the year it was produced, the album it was recorded on, (stuff like that) would work. That would give us enough information to find and explore the tunes on our own. Also providing a small explanation of why you like it, or what kind of rhythm it has would be very helpful. For example detailing next to the song title something like:
"High energy level, all instrumental, swing-like rhythm, strong drums" or
"Calming, slow and steady flutes, w/ intermittent soft voices" or
"Medium beat, steady, straight forward, 4 beat rhythm" You get the point.
A suggestion would be that any ADTA member could enter their favorite recommendations directly through the website. And the website would provide some sort of consistent format/filter so that all suggestions follow a similar description protocol. The filter would also prevent exact duplicates from being entered, or keep track of how many times a song was recommended (but only list it once). W/ the right filter, drop down selection menus, and tech support, the library could grow itself as members contribute to it.
I would be happy to help w/ this endeavor however possible.

Hello all. I've been following this conversation about music and would like to show support for creating a database of sorts for members only on the website. This is actually something that my classmates and I have been discussing since last year in supervision. I think it would be great, not only if we could create the database, but to provide sound bytes of the music as well. I don't know if that is possible. Does anyone know? This could be an extremely useful resource!
Happy Holidays!

Subject: [Adta] Certification Update
Date: Wed, 20 Dec 2006 10:05:02 -0600
Hello everyone,
I have good news about our certification donations that I wanted to share with you. We have received donations from 23 people thus far totally $440.00!!!! I also have received notification from the Illinois Chapter that they are pledging to donate $350.00 plus personal donations in addition to that.
It’s really incredible to see so many of you behind this mission. I also want to let you know that it’s not too late to send in donations even after the holiday season when our pockets slowly get refilled.
Wishing you a safe and happy New Year!!!
Sincerely,
