I am giving a workshop focused on the development of new dance work in
the philosophy and technique of Isadora Duncan. Dance therapy has its
roots in this early modern technique that focuses on natural dance,
expression, breath, and the solar plexus as the genesis of movement. If
you haven't experienced Duncan dance now is your chance!
Inspired By Isadora
Nov 19th, 11:30-2:30 p.m
Morocco's Studio 6 W. 20th Street
NYC
In this workshop you will learn fundamentals of Duncan technique and
philosophy, develop movement/dance phrases, and use other art modalities
to enrich your experience. Additionally, there will be light
refreshments and a showing of some new works in this technique and
sharing of the new work created as part of the workshop.
Fee is $30 for those who participate in the workshop and present work as
part of an informal showing.
Fee is $60 for those who participate in the workshop but prefer to only
be an audience member for the showing.
Please call me for a reservation. I may be reached at 347-742-6591.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

> Contemplative Dance is a simple yet profound practice of moving
> meditation, also known as Authentic Movement. It works with the innate
> intelligence of the body, psyche and imagination, and the drive for
> wholeness and integration. We pay attention to the body and invite it
> to lead into movement or stillness, suspending self-criticism and
> cultivating awareness.
>
> This workshop gently guides people with previous experience into this
> accessible yet powerful form of moving meditation. It includes guided
> movement meditations, contemplative dance/authentic movement and
> explorations with art media and nature.

Tired of listening to all the candidates? Karen Bradley says you only
have to
watch. A visiting professor in the University of Maryland dance
department,
Bradley applies Laban Movement Analysis -- a scholarly take on, yes,
body
language -- to politicians and argues that the most successful are those
with a
graceful command of space and surroundings -- that thing Clinton had,
and Reagan
: "They are the people with the ability to connect." (Don't laugh -- she
was
touting Howard Dean more than a year before his campaign unexpectedly
took
off.) Who's got the right stuff in key local races? Let's go to the
tapes:
Ben Cardin and Michael Steele, NBC's"Meet the Press," Oct. 29:

Dear DMTs
I share a quote from the current issue of "Counseling Today"
(a
monthly American Counseling Association publication) seems of relevant
interest
to many:
"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that
you
end up being governed by your inferiors"...Plato
I find this to be a somber thought - tho confirming, as I prepare to
participate in the upcoming national elections this Tuesday (November
7th). Here's
hoping this resonates with others as well.
Sincerely,
Sara Moore-Hines, ADTR, LPC, NCC,MCAT
Pennsylvania
