[Adta] question about conference presentations

Hello to all:
I recently had a tough decision to make and wanted feedback about it. I was
chosen to present at the ASGPP conference, which, coincidentally, will be in
Brooklyn at the same hotel that next year's ADTA conference will be held.
In the envelope with the acceptance letter was a request to send them $100,
which would be credited to my conference registration. When I informed them
that I would not be attending the conference, but would still like to present
and do not wish to contribute $100, they told me that I could not present
unless I paid them $100. Having only presented at a couple conferences, I am
wondering if this is standard practice. I am well aware of the fact that the
ADTA credits those who present, but what about if you are not going to attend
the conference? I was just curious. I felt very badly about declining the
invitation, but I wasn't expecting to be paying $100 plus my travel expenses to
present my work. Usually I get paid!!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Adina Rosenberg, MCAT, ADTR, LPC, NCC

P.S. It was good to see many of you at the conference this year.
