Hi Everyone,
I'm proud to say that an administrator of Heritage Christian Services
here in Rochester, NY wrote a story about dance therapy for Heritage's
Annual Report. They gave the report out at the annual meeting earlier
this month. Assuming that everyone thumbs through the report and
discovers the page length picture and article, at least 1600 more
people will now be familiar with the term, dance therapy. The writer,
the director of the (Opportunities for People through Services) OPTS
program, painted pictures of the clients' movement and described the
affective changes she saw during the sessions Leigh Collins, a dmt
student at Kinections, led.
Heritage, a bench mark agency for adults with developmental
disabilities, is so committed to dmt that its Vice President repeatedly
sought our input when they drew up the plans for a dance therapy studio
in their new, state of the art Life Center. It's built next to the
Music Therapy Room and Sound Studio, so there will be opportunities for
interdisciplinary and innovative work. The Center opens early next year.
What's also wonderful is that Heritage reached out to Kinections for
services. As the DMT supervisor, I get to see what the folks at
Heritage do across the agency. It's impressive. My hope is that we will
be able to expand the dmt program once the Life Center opens,
Dani Fraenkel
