THE PASSION FOR DANCE

at the CEC, Meetinghouse Theater, 3500 Lancaster Avenue, Philadelphia

This performance brings together three generations of dance artists & 
choreographers. Seven women each presenting solos that reflect on their journeys 
through their life in dance. 

A Group piece will be created from this experience of coming together for a 
week.  These seven women who lived a life of dance will bring their wealth of 
skills and ideas to express and share as they spend a week working together.

Brigitta Herrmann, MA, DTR
 a native of Germany, graduated from the Mary Wigman School of Dance in 
Berlin, Germany(1957-62). Anchored in the Mary Wigman tradition of dance, her work 
expresses her cross cultural roots.  She is co-founder of Group Motion and of 
Ausdruckstanz Dance Theater, in Philadelphia  Her teaching, performing and 
creating dance art for over 44 years established her as a leading force in the 
arena of dance/movement improvisation and choreography.  As co-artistic director 
of Group Motion Co., and of Ausdruckstanz Dance Theater, she has created and 
collaborated with over 65 performance works, presented locally, across the US, 
and in Europe. Her artistic work was awarded through grants from the National 
Endowment for the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the 
Philadelphia Cultural Fund, the International Theater Institute, and through Kumquat 
Initiative, amongst other.  Brigitta’s ongoing explorations in dance and body-mind 
practices include Dance Movement Therapy.  Her passion and commitment to 
awareness practices and healing are reflected in her work. 

Brigitta Herrmann teaches BodyIntuition and Group Motion, offering individual 
sessions, workshops and performances.
