Dear KMP Community,

A KMP committee has been formed in order to provide standards for KMP
teaching and research. We have developed a certification process to
assure quality of KMP teachers and accuracy of KMP raters.

Requirements for Certification:

1.	Applicants must provide verification that they have constructed two
entire KMP’s with interpretations.
a.	The first KMP can be from a completed KMP course (please send us a copy
with interpretation).
b.	The second KMP will be constructed from a tape/DVD that the KMP
committee will send the applicant (process described below).
2. Applicants must provide verification that they have taken a 90-hour KMP
course or tutorial equivalent (i.e. provide Certificate of Completion or
transcript).
3. Applicants who wish to teach will provide verification of their KMP
teaching experience as a KMP teaching assistant, workshop leader or other
related activity.

Application procedure:

1. The applicant must submit a letter of intent to engage in the
application process, including a $75 application fee.
2. A member of the KMP committee will send the applicant a copy of a
tape/DVD of an adult.
3. The applicant will complete a KMP on this video/DVD, including the
eight diagrams of the KMP, Body Attitude, and written interpretation (5-7
pages).
4. Two members of the KMP committee will review the submitted KMP to
determine quality of work and reliability.
-If the submission is satisfactory, the applicant will receive a
certification letter and will be listed on the KMP website (see below).
-If the submission is approved with concerns, the applicant will be asked
to resubmit a part of the KMP or make other revisions.
-If the submission is unsatisfactory, the applicant will be encouraged to
take additional courses.

Optional: Refresher KMP Courses

Suzanne Hastie will offer workshops in Bethlehem, PA in November, 2006 and
February, 2007 (to get to Bethlehem, you can fly to Newark and take the
bus from Newark Airport directly to Bethlehem).
Silvia Birklein will offer weekend workshops in NYC in May 2007.

Suggestions:

Both KMP teacher and researcher applicants will be expected to demonstrate
understanding of KMP concepts and movement patterns in their
interpretation section. For example, the successful applicant will be able
to discuss statistical data, such as load factors and ratios; overall KMP
interpretation, such as affinities and clashing; and significance of
movement pattern skewing, such as high or low quantities of specific
movement patterns.
Please reference the textbook, The Meaning of Movement, for a review of
Profile interpretation.

-Applications may be submitted at any time. The review process will begin
in February 2007. Please send your letter of intent and application fee
to:

Susan Loman, Director
MA Program in Dance/Movement Therapy
Antioch University New England
40 Avon Street
Keene, NH
03431

The $75 application fee check is made out to CDR/KMP.

-Please contact Suzanne Hastie [ mailto:suzannehastie at aol.com
](suzannehastie at aol.com) or Silvia Birklein([ mailto:sbirklein at mail.com
]sbirklein at mail.com) for more information about KMP refresher courses.

-Those who attain certification will be listed on the new KMP website,
KestenbergMovementProfile.org (the website is under construction and
should be operational shortly)as a KMP certified trainer. Please visit
the KMP website for events, publications, and KMP information.

-Please clarify on your application letter if you are seeking a teaching
certification or a research certification. There will be higher
reliability requirements for researchers.

Thank you for your interest in the KMP.

Very Sincerely,

The KMP Committee:
