[Adta] Casey Slayton remembrance- Drexel

We join all of you who mourn Casey and miss her already. In 1998, at a 
young 23, Casey came to study with us at the Hahnemann program for 
dance/movement therapy. She wanted to become a dance/movement therapist 
so badly; and one thing that is true about Casey every day that we knew 
her: she loved dance therapy.
Casey joined a class of amazing women---her classmates grieve her now 
and led by Emily Nussdorfer and Rebbeka Dieterich Hartwell, will be 
creating a memorial event next month in Philadelphia where Casey worked 
and lived. Casey is unforgettable: we will not forget her abundant 
energy, her passion for her work, her passion for life, and her 
generosity (particularly with her computer skills). She bailed us out of 
many a computer glitch in lectures and presentations! And Casey did us 
proud many times: she and classmate Kirsten Etnoyer found time in the 
busy masters' program to volunteer at the Hannah House, a program for 
women coming out of incarceration and addictions. This and other work 
Casey did drew accolades.  For the 30th Anniversary celebration of our 
program, just over a year ago, Casey worked long into the nights, 
organizing databases and helping in any way needed. Her master's thesis, 
"Mobile Family Dance/Movement Therapy for Children with Pervasive 
Developmental Disorder:  A Comparative Multiple Case Study" was quite an 
innovative study, completed in collaboration with classmate Krista 
Mancarella. (The abstract of Casey's project is published in the AJDT 
with the Poster Session presentations from the Seattle conference.) 
Casey was part of our lives and community here. To lose her is a great 
loss. Our deepest sympathies go to Casey's parents and siblings.
