[Adta] Who helps with inquiries?

HI, Susan et al,
I was wondering if this would be too much for the offical respondent to do:
If ADTA individuals who respond to requests for information and advice also send a copy of their responses to the official respondent (Susan at this time), there could then be a check on whether or not a response had been made. For the person responding, it would be as simple as typing in Susan's email in the Cc section of the address. But it would also be necessary for Susan to retain each email request until at least one respnse to that email has been made.

  Hi Christina, Lora & Everyone.

Thanks so much for the support & recognition, Christina.

As the official respondent, I try to make sure that discussions are supported and developed just like in any other group. Ours happens to have close to 1000 subscribers with varied needs & to interact, through the written word.

I count on many of you to respond to and develop on discussions just as would happen in any group.

I also assume that some of you will be responding directly to certain messages- for ex, members of the ADTA Board of directors, I know will me monitoring the messages & will respond if something is within their domain. A Good example is with this message, where Christina responded as our PR Chair.

I know that sometimes some readers complain that there are too many messages, however, I believe that, the communication is vital to us & since, I believe around 2000, (is that right Christina?) the Listserve has created opportunities for us to communicate with one another around the world- what could be better?

I also think that what got created with the "So You Think You Can Dance" effort, was fantastic& Lora, you were our head "Cheerleader". We worked pretty hard on that but didn't it feel good to be taking action?

Should we have a legislative alert like we have had in the past, or like some of you in CA & other states still may have because of the on going efforts in your state, it is imperative that we all support communication & awareness through this mechanism we created.

I also think that we probably could develop more specifically on a mechanism to make sure that everyone receives a response but don't know exactly what that would be. Perhaps some of you have ideas? Also, if some of you have sent in messages & not received responses - or, responses you felt to be meaningful, without pointing fingers at people, perhaps you could let us know, or let me know off of the listserve so that we can improve.

Any ideas you have would be appreciated. Lets talk- Lets respond- Lets support- lets learn- lets work as a team, & lets help our profession continue to grow & be meaningful to us.

  ADTA Listserve Respondent

  Dear Lora & All,

That is an excellent question... Of course, It is preferential that all inquiries and discussion points offered to the Listserv receive at least one response online. As a member of the Public Relations Committee, an appointed position, The ADTA Listserve Respondent is an appointed to monitor and ensure that Listserv inquiries and discussion points are addressed. The Listserv Respondent is a member of the ADTA who reports to the Public Relations Chairperson. The Listserv Respondent's functions are to stimulate communication, to be responsive, to correct myths by presenting reality based facts and resources, to foster interaction, and to make the Listserv 'participant friendly'.

Our amazing Listserve Respondent is Susan Kleinman. She keeps our discussions generated, answers inquires, however, as you know, she can't possibly do it all and we are always looking for persons interested in serving to assist in this capacity and serve as alternate in case our respondent is unable to respond to such inquiries. This is why we do hope that all of you too chime in and respond when an interesting topic comes across.

It is part of our Vision implemented by the Board to have

Dynamic, Responsive, Effective Infrastructure Advancing DMT Scholarship and Practice in the Best Interests of Our Constituents

  A Strong Public Image

And Expanding Membership that is Vibrant, Diverse, and Actively Involved

Our listserve serves many functions in our community and in the public. I'm glad to know that you are concerned that inquires are getting responded to... and certainly it is our desire as well.

Our Susan Kleinman, our listserve Respondent does an amazing job in this area. I know all of you know her name, and email "skdmt2" I do want to take this opportunity, since Lora brought this up, to publicly thank Susan for her consistent "holding environment" that she provides for us in our cyberspace community!! A million "thanks" to Susan!! Certainly, however, each of you serve to work towards these visions as well!!

  Warmly,

Christina Devereaux, MA, LCAT, LMHC, ADTR, NCC
