How We Can Serve the World

Human development is designed to follow nature's biological plan -- a
genetically inherent design for creativity and freedom. Our dominator
culture promotes neither creativity not freedom: it demands conformity,
which inhibits a child's natural spiritual-creative development. The
demand to conform produces competitive conflict -- the driving force of
culture.
This presentation draws on neuroscience, neuro-cardiology, the “brain”
of the heart, and the evolutionary of the four-fold brain. The work of
Rudolph Steiner, Jean Piaget, Maria Montessori, and others reveals how
these structures develop from birth in a sequential, stage-specific
manner. We will explore how nature’s plan for children can be preserved
in the midst of mounting hostility, chaos, confusion, and danger in
today's dominator world.
Particular attention will be paid to the “model imperative” by which
all development unfolds and how, given appropriate models, negative
cultural effects, no matter their power and profusion, need not block
and thwart an individual child’s spiritual-creative unfolding. Here the
critical importance of Steiner’s Waldorf Education is touched on, as
well as its radical opposite, our newly invented electronic virtual
realities which wreak havoc on the natural structures of mind. A young
person’s compulsive attraction to these artificial mind-warps will be
discussed, using the Bohm, Sheldrake, and Steiner insights into field
effect and its rising role in these dominator models.
The workshop unfolds in a logical, well illustrated and documented
sequence, keeping the issues as simple and concrete as possible, free
of jargon, vague abstraction or unrealistic hypothesis. Questions will
be accepted as time permits.
