In 2008 the international Laban comunity will be celebrating 50 years of development of Rudolf Laban's groundbreaking movement theories.
 
Originally belonging to the Performing Arts, the fields of application for LMA & BF have been expanding to reach areas such as, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Business, Animation, Health, Leadership Development, and all fields where it is important to observe movement patterns and behavior differences.

LABAN 2008 - Rio de Janeiro 
PERFORMING ARTS & NEW TERRITORIES



Centro LABAN - Rio, the Laban/ Bartenieff Institute and the Choreographic Center of Rio de Janeiro  convene to the presentation of proposals related to the application of Laban & Bartenieff theories in Performing Arts and in the new terrritories where their system have been applied.

Proposals must be sent by  JANUARY 15th 2008

A  council  integrated by members of Centro LABAN-Rio, of the Laban/Bartenieff Institute - LIMS® and of Centro Coreográfico da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro will select  the proposals wich will integrate the program.

Answers will be given by January 30th,  2008. 

To send  materials for  communication,workshops and performances

Communication Proposals must include a summary, a letter of intention explaining the association with Laban and/or Bartenieff, a small biography and personal/ institutional contacts (email, address/phone/cell) . The time limit for each communication will be 15 minutes.

Performance  Proposals must include a VHS or DVD, a detailed explanation about the work, including its technical needs and how LMA/BF influenced the work, a letter of intention explaining your association with Laban and/or Bartenieff, press excerpts about your work, a small biography and personal/ institutional contacts (email, address/phone/cell). Performances will happen either at the theater, galery, loft or studios of the Choreographic Center of Rio, at the discretion of the event curatorial team. 

Workshop  Proposals must include a detailed explanation about the theme and development of the proposed experience, including the relation with Laban and/or Bartenieff and the number of participants you prefer to include in your workshop, a  letter of intention explaining your association with Laban and/or  Bartenieff, a small biography and personal/institutional contacts (email, address/pone/cell). The time limit for each workshop will be 1:30h. Workshops will happen in the studios of the Choreographic Center, which 

VHS and DVDs, and any additional material must be sent to Centro Coreográfico da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro (Rua José Higino, 115 - Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro/Brasil) to Ms. Marina Salomon, Artistic Projects' Manager. 

Proposals and summaries must be sent by e-mail in word format  to  info at centrolaban-rj.org, care off Regina Miranda


 
REGISTRATION FEE FOR PRESENTERS

After being selected, the professional presenter must send the Registration Fee to Centro LABAN-Rio. 

Registration Fee: 
International Presenters: US$ 100,00 (or R$ 200, 00)
Brazilian Presenters: R$100, 00

REGISTRATION FOR PARTICIPANTS

Registration Fee: US$ 50 (or R$ 100, 00)

Registration for participants will begin in January 2008. Soon , you will receive more information on how to proceed to register
