[Adta] Sad news-Jeanette MacDonald

Dear DMT Community,

 

I am writing to share very sad and shocking news. The son of one of our UK
DMT colleagues, Jeanette MacDonald, was killed in Afghanistan last week.
Jeanette has said that she wants "the world to know".

 

Jack went to Afghanistan as a volunteer. He was a student of military
science and was enlisted in the equivalent of the Reserves, though chose to
go to the front lines.

He was an extremely bright young man, as Jeannette says 'her golden boy'.
He was considering going to Officers Training and had been in Afghanistan
only for 2 months.  Jeannette  begged him not to go... she had a premonition
he would not return. So, not a military family for whom there might be some
form of comfort in a sense of duty and shared loss.


There is to be an enormous funeral ceremony at Exeter Cathedral December
19th with full honours. If you know Jeannette , from her involvement as
ex-Chair of ADMT or her involvement in European DMT and  you wish to send
condolences you could write (rather than email at this time) to:
