In case you have a Macintosh computer and periodically use the software
update program, there is a not yet well known or understood problem for some
of us who installed the new QuickTime update version 7.3.1 (released
12/13/07).  I never had a problem from updating software before, but in the
last couple of weeks, my desktop Mac started having a series of problems.  A
Mac tech person sent a note saying there are reports from some individuals
about losing information, as well as other problems, yet  others have
installed it with no bad consequences.  Seek information from a
knowledgeable person before installing QuickTime update 7.3.1
