Hi everyone .... I would like to piggy-back on Christina's message and invite anyone from our dance therapy family that might be attending this conference to join us for our Md/DC/Va chapter meeting on Saturday, March 17, 2007 from 5-8, following the days workshops, right there at the hotel where the conference is being held. We will gather together to discuss chapter business, but will also share in a meal (pot luck) and an evening of dance .... Irish dancing will be highlighted in honor of St. Patrick's Day. So glad that you have encouraged this both Susan & Robyn,

 

As PR chair, I'd also like to let everyone know about an exciting event that ADTA will be visible!!  Thanks to Liz Hagerman (PR committee member) and the DC/MD/VA chapter ADTA will host an informational table at this year's Psychotherapy Networker Conference to be held in Washington DC from March 15-18, 2007!!!  http://www.psychotherapynetworker.org/index.php?category=annual_conferences   This conference is occurring RIGHT ON THE CUSP OF CREATIVE ARTS THERAPY WEEK!!! Creative Arts Therapy Week (March 18 -March 24, 2007)

 

This conference attracts thousands of mental health professionals, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, social workers, creative arts therapists, etc and the keynote speakers this year include world recognized presenters such as Daniel Siegal, Daniel Goleman, John and Julie Gottman, Francine Shapiro, Kenneth Hardy, Jerome Kagan and Deborah Tannen.  In addition this year' "will feature an eminent multidisciplinary lineup of speakers from a variety of fields-therapy, neuroscience, coaching, theater arts, yoga, spiritual disciplines-who will bring us the latest thinking and practice in what it means to be truly mindful, fully conscious of our moment-to-moment experience."  WOW... this is our playing field!!!!

Thanks to our Liz, PR committee member and her fellow chapter members, they will be working hard manning a table and getting information out to this network about dance/movement therapy.  Perhaps next year someone might submit a proposal to present.

 

In addition, if you know of a conference/event that would be important for ADTA to be represented, please contact me so we can explore the opportunity of this occurring.
