Re Pat Gardner's Retirement
When I think of ADTA, Pat seems to be an integral part
of it. Over the years she was a consistent link to the
association for me.
She was there when I first became affiliated with the
organization (about 1980) and through my years of
activity on the ADTA Board. I recall, in particular,
the period Sephanie Katz and I worked on the federally
funded (Administration on Aging) DMT research project
on behalf of theADTA (1992—1995) re the effects of DMT
with older adlts with neurological damage) ). Pat,
Gloria, Stephanie and I spent untold hours in
interactions via telephone, the magical (at that time)
fax machine and the old faithful post office. Emails
and the web were not yet a part of our universe. Pat's
oversight in managing that grant—the record keeping,
the countless hours spent preparing and sending
reports and related documents, including that final
manuscript detailing the research and outcome—was a
major contributor to the entire process and successful
completion of the project. We could never have done it
without the unfailing assistance of Pat and Gloria.

Although I will no longer be able to visit with Pat at
our annual ADTA conference, my very warm memories of
her will long endure.

Cynthia
