--------------------------------------------------------------------
On Mon, 8 Jan 2007 12:57:57 -0500 the list serve got this inquiry
From: "Joy Fleming" <jfleming3 at carolina.rr.com> concerning her
consideration of Dance Therapy as a Career
Joy, though your inquiry includes a question about salaries in NC, and I don't have information about that, I do have thoughts about the general aspects of your inquiry. Your two degrees, accounting and MBA, will always be useful, and in fact the vision of the future that I cherish for our field includes someone like yourself, with a passion for dance, and helping others, 32 years young, and willing to get another degree to fullfill yearnings for a meaningful career. I believe it might be valuable to you and certainly to our field to have a business minded D/MT. Salaries in the states where I have worked, Louisiana and Massachusetts, vary by job descriptions and your previous degrees will give you access to positions that involve other aspects of D/MT, such as the administration of programs, the business of health clinics, and by this I mean not necessarily limited to mental health, as I have spent many years working with the emotional healing of people with physical acciden!
ts and illnesses.
It might be years before you are financially back to even, but those years have the potential of being meaningful and exciting, as my own career has been.
Susan Kierr. ADTR, NCC
