Hi Robyn
I am so glad to know that ADTA is being well represented at the AASCB
meeting, This is a very important group for us to maintain strong
connections with & to learn from.
Another idea I have for Jennifer, is to contact the former ( & founding
president) president of the ACC ( Association for Creativity in Counseling),
a division of the ACA, who lives in Texas and see if she can assist you w/
contacts she might have or w/ other suggestions.
Her name is Thelma Duffey, PhD, e mail: TDuffey at satx.rr.com For ex, if you
can get support from already licensed counselors in Texas, in a writing or
phone campaign, that could be helpful.
Their statement :'.. they have determined in the past that dance/movement

Just doesn't make sense.
Also, you said: " It would also be helpful to know if any of the DMTs that

In Florida, applicants must register for & complete a specific amount( quite
large) of supervision with a licensed mental health therapist ( state of
FL) who has met specific criteria to be recognized as a counseling
supervisor in this state.
Good luck
I know this is one of the more difficult boards to deal with.

Jennifer and others having difficulty with state boards,
As I write this, ADTA is being represented at the American Association of
State Counseling Boards annual conference in Florida. Dance Therapy is
being represented by Vice President Dr. Sherry Goodill, Government Affairs
Committee Chairperson Ellen Yacoe, and Government Affairs Committee State
Deputy Sheila Stone. Representatives of state boards from around the country
attend this conference, and it is an important venue for getting information
about dance therapy out to the state boards. I am sure our excellent
representatives are working hard at this minute to make inroads and I wanted
everyone to know!
