It is touching to read the tributes to Ruthanna in the listserv, unfortunately, many had lost touch with her in recent years.

Her manuscript about Mr. B, (George Balanchine) which also has a section devoted to Marian Chace is in the hands of NYC editors and publishers. If it is not deemed publishable, it will be archived in a suitable location. As many have mentioned, Ruthanna was an amazing raconteur with knowledge of the ballet stars of the 20th Century and her remembrances are valuable.

Her ballet "Cakewalk" was given to the current director of the Kansas City Ballet, William Whitener, with heritage through Todd Bolander to NYC Ballet, and whom she trusted with the work.

NYC Ballet has been asked to dedicate a spring performance of the ballet "Seranade" to Ruthanna's memory, and if that happens, I will inform the listserv.

She was indeed a remarkable person, whose career paralled that of Marian Chace: dance student; dance performer in a touring troupe; choreographer; dance teacher; dance therapist; and dance therapy leader. She held to a powerful and passionate belief system and did not waver.

I inadvertently omitted her term as chair of the Norhtern California Chapter of ADTA and that she was survived by a brother in my notice to the listerv. I regret that, but it was an emotional flood for me to get the notice posted.

As she suffered from cancer, she opted not to have a third double hip replacement and was confined to a wheel chair.. Years ealier, I recall her jubilant appearance to present at the Marian Chace Memorial Foundation lecture without her "sticks" (metal walking braces that she used for years). She had had a hip replacement and was also wearing pink/fuschia suede boots and was in extremely high spirits.

It is a rare gift to have had a colleague/friend like Ruthanna Boris.
