Dance/Movement Therapy: New Currents, New Bridges

 
The ADTA is the only US organization dedicated solely to the growth and
enhancement of the profession of dance/movement therapy. Our annual
conference is a time to share emerging knowledge with colleagues and
those in related fields, and to explore the many ways that
dance/movement therapy addresses the needs of society and individuals in
this time.
 
We will meet at the foot of the great Brooklyn Bridge, a living symbol
of connection. 
*      Like the bridge, dance/movement therapists daily facilitate
connections-the insightful connections our clients make in the process
of self discovery, creative connections that heal divisions between
people and between groups, and the bridges we build through partnerships
and collaborations in research, clinical practice, education and
advocacy. 
*      Bridges take us from one place to another.. What innovations are
taking dance/movement therapy into new places and into alternative
settings for practice? 
 
We will meet on the banks of the East River. As the river flows with 
many currents, we will explore currents and trends in the field.
*      We'll consider trends in the world and the society: How is
dance/movement therapy responding to new needs and problems in our
cities, communities, in this country and around the world? 
*      We will share discoveries about the relevance of dance/movement
therapy in our increasingly diverse culture. How do we prepare ourselves
and our students of DMT for the challenges of current times? 
 
We invite proposals for papers, presentations, panels, and workshops 
relating to our theme.
A research poster session is planned. 
 
Submit proposals to the ADTA National Office via email by February 10,
2007.
