I've heard from several DTRs interested in taking the national certification
exam.
Only DTRs can apply through ADTA.
Anyone who believes they meet the criteria, however, can apply directly
through the NBCC See below:
There are two ways ADTRs can apply to take the NCE:.
1) The regular non-ADTR way is one that any qualified counselor out
there can use that has nothing to do with Dance Therapy credentials. The
applications for this method can be found on this page of the NBCC Web site
http://www.nbcc.org/ncc_credential . Exam registration is part of this
application.
2) Then there is the special, single page application for the NCC
credential just for ADTRs that can be obtained only from ADTA. Contact
Gloria at the ADTA office for this application. This is the application that
requires just the form (with a special sticker on it) and a sealed
transcript for ADTRs who have taken the NCE at the ADTA con ference. If the
ADTR has not already had the NCE at the ADTA conference, then there is an
Examination Registration Form that they would send with their NCC
application and sealed transcript. In this case, the ADTR would be asked to
choose a national testing site in their state from the list provided by ADTA
or from the list on the NBCC Web site. http://www.nbcc.org/sitedate2 But
please be clear that this way of testing is part of applying for the NCC
credential. Without applying for the NCC credential (or a state license),
one cannot take the NCE.
I encourage ADTRs who are eligible and plan to attend the ADTA conference in
Brooklyn to take the exam through ADTA. It will be much less chaotic because
it will be a smaller group & the application process is also shortened.
Please let me know if there are other questions
Susan
