OCTOBER 1-3 WORKSHOP ALL DAY SESSIONS:
The Movement Psychodiagnostic Inventory (MPI) is an observation tool for
identifying body movement patterns associated with schizophrenia spectrum,
personality disorders, and other forms of psychiatric disturbance. It can
be applied to observing individuals in psychiatric interviews or during
dance/movement therapy sessions. The 3-day MPI workshop, conducted by the
originator (Davis) and developers of the MPI, is designed for researchers
and clinicians interested in systematic assessment of diverse forms of
movement disorder related to psychopathology.
1. Detailed demonstration of the MPI with review of research using this
instrument.
2. Observation training in the MPI Short Form for clinical use.
3. Application of MPI assessments to dance/movement therapy with adults.
Tuition: $350.00
($300.00 per person if 3 current faculty and/or students are from same DMT
masters program or Alternate Route training program).
OCTOBER 4th ADVANCED WORKSHOP ALL DAY SESSION:
Presentation of a comprehensive approach to assessment of school children,
with learning and behavioral problems, which combines systematic movement
observation during structured motor and interactonal tasks. The assessment
method is based on Dr. Dulicai's years of consultation with Marion North
and her work with William Freeman and the staff of the Vermont Special
Education Program. This approach includes the MPI as a screen for severe
movement pathology. Case examples and movement therapy interventions guided
by the assessment will be discussed.
Tuition: $50.00 Registrants must have completed previous MPI workshop (in
NYC or Europe)
To REGISTER for the workshops and for New York students to APPLY for a
workshop assistant position, contact Martha Davis: MADavis95 at aol.com
NOTE: Due to viewing limits on videotapes to be shown, the workshops are
limited to
mental health researchers, practitioners and students.
