Dear Christina and fellow DMTs,

Just want to share how some of us in NJ are celebrating CAT week.  We are
having a morning of "PROFESSIONAL RENEWAL" at Princeton House (in Central
New Jersey).  Last year we focused on educating our staff and the public
about CAT.  This year, we are focusing on the CATs who work in our inpatient
and outpatient settings:

March 18-25, 2007 is National Creative Arts Therapies Week.  In honor of the
contributions that Creative Arts Therapists make in the treatment of mental
health, we invite all Creative Arts Therapists within the Princeton House
Healthcare System to join for a morning of professional renewal.  Come
celebrate your work and nurture your own creativity and artistic self.

We hope to give the CATs an opportunity to reconnect to their art and their
creativity and address stress, burnout, etc.

This is the week to honor YOU and the fantastic things you bring to this
profession and celebrate the power of the healing arts!!  All this week
(March 18-24, 2007) is dedicated towards spreading the word about the
Creative Arts Therapies (art therapy dance/movement therapy, drama therapy,
music therapy, poetry therapy & psychodrama). This is the 28th anniversary
of the National Coalition of Creative Arts Therapies (http://www.nccata.org
<http://www.nccata.org/> ) and the 41st Anniversary of the American Dance
Therapy Association (Est. 1966 www.adta.org <http://www.adta.org/> ). In
honor of the coalition building many creative arts therapy leaders have done
over the years, we would like to invite you to celebrate within your
community the extraordinary work of the creative arts therapists all over

the creative arts therapists all over the world.
We invite you to use this week as a public relations effort to celebrate our
disciplines throughout the United States.
We invite you to design your own celebration of the Creative Arts Therapies.


What should you do?  .Do what you do best!!
CHOREOGRAPH YOUR OWN CELEBRATION OF CAT WEEK!!

You could..
* Host an open house with other CAT colleagues to display and demonstrate
your modality -or provide a workshop or seminar open to the public.
* Offer to run a career day with colleagues at a local high school or
college.
* Provide a staff development in-service to broaden the knowledge of other
professionals in your own institution or agency.
* Visit other schools, nursing homes, day-care centers to provide a creative
arts therapy experience.
* Arrange a display at your local library (and in your own institution or
agency!)
* Put up posters and leave flyers wherever you go.
* Send out press release to your local paper announcing Creative Arts
Therapies Week activities in your community.
* Send a letter or e-mail to the Public Service Director of your local radio
and TV stations for a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. (Be sure to include your
contact information.)
* Arrange for you or a colleague to be INTERVIEWED by a local paper or
station, highlighting your work.

Take photos and share with us about your ingenuity!!

We can do this!!  Let's have a fantastic 2007 CAT Week!!! Go Go Go!!!
