Dear Colleagues,

To learn more about the efforts to bring Professional Counselor Licensure to California, you are invited to attend the csponsored by the Northern California Art Therapy Association (NorCATA), the Southern California Chapter of the American Dance Therapy Association (SCCADTA), and the Southern California Art Therapy Association (SoCalATA).

Northern California session:

Passage of the bill to implement a counseling license (AB1486) will mean increased opportunities for master's level professional counselors, as well as the chance to resolve the inequitable situation underserved communities face with the lack of access to mental health services.

Both sessions will feature a presentation by a Board member from the CCCL. You will learn why we need another license in the state, who will be eligible and how grandparenting will work, why it would be beneficial for Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) to have a second license, why is it essential to support the efforts of the California Coalition of Counselor Licensure (CCCL), and what needs to be done to support the bill and how to help if you don't have much time or many resources. You will also learn about the requirements to qualify for licensure as a counselor, the process and timeline for grandparenting, and how you can help ensure successful passage!

Both sessions will feature a silent auction of exciting, beautiful, creative, and gourmet items, many made by members of participating organizations. Donation outside of the silent auction are suggested, as well.
