Dear Kim,

Many if not all of the publications by Mary Whitehouse, Janet Adler, Tina
Stromsted and many other DMTs (on authentic movement, or movement as a form
of active imagination) approach inner-directed movement as a path toward
direct experience of the spirit. I'd start with the two volumes Patrizia
Pallaro edited on authentic movement, published by Jessica Kingsley.
Another recent collection is the 2005 issue of Spring Journal on the theme
Body and Soul: Honoring Marion Woodman. I'll include what I can now and
after you have added these and other resources to your list, I hope you'll
send your second draft to the list again to invite further resources.
Relevant bibliographies are also great sources for this kind of material,
including the bibliographies of the theses on your list, the authentic
movement bibliographies, and more.

Given time limitations and various deadlines, I¹m pressed for time (as I
imagine we all are). I'll add a limited number now and at some point please
send your revised draft to the ADTA list. I'll be glad to look it over
again and if needed, will send more:

Adler, J. (1992). ³Arching Backward,² and, ³A Cross Cultural Study of
Mysticism as the Context for a Phenomenological Study: Arching Backward.²

University Microfilms International.

Adler, J. (1995). Arching Backward: The Mystical Initiation of a
Contemporary Woman. Rochester, Vermont: Inner Traditions.

Spring: A Journal of Archetype and Culture.

Fay, Carolyn Grant. 1996. At the Threshold: A Journey to the Sacred
through the Integration of the Psychology of C. G. Jung and the Expressive
Arts, with Carolyn Grant Fay. (66 minute videotape made by Bushy Theater,
Boston). Available through the bookstore: C. G. Jung Educational Center of
Houston).

Pallaro, P., editor. (1999/2000). Authentic Movement: Essays by Mary
Starks Whitehouse, Janet Adler and Joan Chodorow. London: Jessica
Kingsley, Volume One.

Pallaro, P., editor. (2007). Authentic Movement: Moving the Body, Moving

Thanks for helping ADTA with this important project. All best,
Joan
