We are opening to the DMT professional community our summer DMT elective course: Medical Dance/Movement Therapy. Instructor is Sherry Goodill, MCAT , PhD, ADTR, author of the acclaimed text Introduction to Medical Dance/Movement Therapy: Healthcare in Motion .

Dance/movement Therapy is emerging as a useful complementary approach for people with primary
medical conditions. Using readings, experiential exercises, lecture, discussion and video formats, this course examines clinical work reported to date, relevant theory from health, psychology, psychoneuroimmunology and mind/body perspectives to motivate programming and research in this area.

Course Description (from catalogue):
Students learn the fundamentals of the Kestenberg Movement Profile (KMP); a theoretically based and clinically useful assessment of psychosocial development through body movement. Clinical applications and cross-cultural issues will be integrated into the materials presented. Teaching formats include discussion, experiential activities, and observational practice sessions. Students observe and notate from a video, learn to evaluate observational data, and prepare treatment plans based on the KMP. The focus of this course is on qualitative data.
