Hello,

I am a relatively new clinician in Sussex County DE working with survivors
of sexual abuse for a private non-profit agency. I am not a DMT, but have
some expressive arts background/training (outside my masters degree, which
is in community counseling). I love your list, and really appreciate the
professional support offered among members.

I have a family whose daughter, age 14, was sexually abused 2 years ago. I
would love to speak with someone, either through the list, or offline
regarding possible treatment options. I have only met with the parents 1ce,
the daughter 1ce and both, together, 1ce, during a crisis. Their daughter
is acting out sexually (soliciting sexual relationships with adult men,
inviting them into the family home after every one is asleep). She also
appears to be anorexic, or on her way, quickly, to being so. My supervisior
felt their needs were beyond our scope of treatment, but I am at a loss as
to what options might be available, for both individual and family tx. As
in most families, there are lots of variables, and at this point for me,
lots of questions. I am writing this list because this girl loves dance.
She writes music, lyrics and describes dance as "her oxygen". Her mother
said her music is getting darker, and she is afraid, rightfully so, of where
her daughter is headed. They have BC/BS, but have had some difficulties,
and apparently have a high deductable. They have limited funds for out of
pocket expenses, according to the parents. I don't know to what degree they
are able to travel.

I have personally experienced the healing power of movement and creative
expression. I suspect this could be a good match for this girl...in fact, a
lifesaver. Any suggestions would be welcome. If anyone would be willing to
speak with me offline, please send me a way of contacting you, as well as a
good time to reach you. Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Yours truly,

Karen Barwick, MS, NCC
