Hi Donna

This sounds like a very important contact & I'm glad you were responsive to
them. Please let us know what you learn about this group as well as
experience. It sounds like they may also need some follow-up
materials/contacts from ADTA.

Subject: [Adta] Career Transitions for Dancers - does anyone know aboutthese
folks?

Is anyone familiar with this organization?

I am cutting and pasting the e-mail I received through the Dance Action
Network in Boston area. I e-mailed to ask them if they know about dance
therapy. The response I got is below this one.

Dear Greater Boston Area Dance Supporters,

I am writing to inform you that Career Transition For Dancers (CTFD) is
coming to Boston September 23 - 24, 2007 to introduce its programs and
services.

As you may know, all performing careers must come to an end and many dancers
are faced with the harsh reality of trying to find an equally fulfilling
passion, as well as a new source of income. CTFD is here to help dancers
prepare for a future beyond the stage and assists dancers in discovering
ways of supplementing their current artistic endeavors.

Through free one-on-one career counseling, educational scholarships and
entrepreneurial grants, CTFD helps dancers discover new fulfilling
employment options, in preparation for that stressful and inevitable time
when dancers must take their final bow. CTFD encourages dancers to start
preparing early, while still performing and even when they are still
students, in order to avoid a crisis situation down the road.

We hope you will spread the word to all current and former professional
dancers and choreographers to join us on Sunday - September 23rd at Boston
Ballet - 19 Clarendon Street - 5th Floor, Board Room.

Sign-in is at 10:30 AM and Orientation is from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
One-on-One Career Counseling is to follow.

Space is limited so interested participants need to RSVP to Dana McCaw:
212.764.0172 or dmccaw at careertransi <mailto:dmccaw at careertransition.org>
tion.org to reserve a space for Orientation and a Career Counseling time
slot.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We also hope that you will help us spread the word to all
professionally-bound, high school age dance students to join us for an
orientation, presented during Boston Ballet School's "Career Night... A
Dancer's Next Step," on Monday, September 24th at 7:00 PM in Studio 7.
For the Student Session, RSVP to Marissa Krolewski at Boston Ballet School:
mkrolewski at bostonballet.com.
There are attached flyers for further information on these programs.
You may visit www.careertransitio <http://www.careertransition.org> n.org
for more information on CTFD's programs and services.
Please do not let the Boston area dancers miss out on this opportunity!
Regards,
Shawn Mahoney
Hi Donna,
We would love it if you could attend the program on the 23rd.  If you can
bring some materials about your business, they would certainly be well
received.
CTFD is also networking opportunity, where dancers can get help or
suggestions from their peers so this will fit in quite nicely.
I am Cc-ing our career counselors, Lauren Gordon and Suzie Jary, on this
email so that maybe they can introduce you during the Orientation.
I will reserve a space for you for the Orientation.  Please let me know if
you cannot make it.
Best,
Dana
